Indian Vehicle Registration Number Plates
While traveling we observe different vehicles and different registration number plates of vehicles. Now here I will explain all the different types of Indian Vehicle registration number plates.
White Number Plate
The Vehicle with white background and the black font is a private vehicle and it is used for an only personal purpose. It should not be used as a cab, taxi, etc…
Tax for white number plate vehicle collected is Life Time Tax (LTT).
Using Private vehicle for Commercial purposes is offense according to MVA 192 as there may be fined up to Rs. 5000 (not less than Rs. 2000) or Imprisonment up to 3 months or both.
Yellow Number Plate
The vehicle with a yellow background and the black font is a public vehicle and it can be used for commercial purpose. This yellow board vehicle can be used as cab/taxi in OLA, UBER, etc.. and for goods transport.
To drive these yellow board vehicle driver should have “BADGE” which should be renewed yearly.
Now we can see yellow board Bikes also, to ride this bikes riders should have “BADGE”
Tax for yellow number plate vehicle will be collected based on different categories as quarterly, half yearly, annual etc..
Driving a yellow number plate vehicle without a valid license may lead fine up to Rs. 5000 or Imprisonment up to 3 months or both.
Black Number Plate
The vehicle with a black background and yellow font is a commercial vehicle which is owned by an individual and it can be rented for a customer on own driving.
In this case, the driver can drive the vehicle without BADGE.
Upward Pointing Arrow Number Plate
The vehicle number with Upward Arrow is vehicle belongs to Army. This vehicle is registered under the Ministry of Defence.
In some cases, these vehicles have a chance not to stop at Traffic signals.
No Registration Number Plate
A vehicle using by Top Constitutional Authorities, President, Vice President, Governor, Lieutenant Governor has a special treatment.
Their vehicles have no compulsion displaying their Registration Numbers.
On Jan 2nd, 2018 Delhi High Court gave an Order that to display Registration Numbers of all Officials including Prime Minister.
Light Blue Number Plate
The vehicle with Light Blue Background and White font belongs to Foreign Consulates.
To drive these vehicles, the person should have an International driving license.
